Sussex Police are appealing for witnesses after a suspected mid-air fight broke out on board a TUI flight bound for London Gatwick Airport, leading to the detention of four individuals.
The incident occurred on a flight from Montego Bay, Jamaica, which landed at Gatwick at around 7am on March 18. According to reports, a disturbance unfolded while the plane was in transit, and police have since confirmed they are treating the matter as an affray.
Passengers Detained, Later Released
Upon landing, officers met the aircraft and detained four people in connection with the altercation. However, all individuals have since been released pending further investigation.
A spokesperson for Sussex Police said:
“We are investigating a disturbance on board a flight arriving at Gatwick Airport on March 18. Four individuals were detained and have since been released while enquiries continue.”
Police Appeal for Witnesses and Footage
Police are now calling on passengers who may have witnessed the incident — or captured any part of it on mobile phones — to come forward.
“We are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident, or has footage or information that could assist our investigation, to contact us,” the force added.
