A man has been charged in connection with a spate of violent robberies in Lower Edmonton, north London, following a detailed investigation by Met Police detectives.
Daniel Shengezi, 24, of Wyldfield Gardens, Enfield, was arrested and charged today (Thursday, 27 March) with multiple offences relating to a series of attacks between December 2024 and March 2025.
According to the Metropolitan Police, there have been 11 reported robberies or attempted robberies targeting members of the public—10 women and one man—in the Lower Edmonton area. Victims were reportedly assaulted during the thefts, sparking concern throughout the local community.
Following enquiries led by the North Area Robbery Focus Unit, Shengezi was charged with:
- Nine counts of robbery
- Two counts of attempted robbery
- Handling stolen goods
- Possession of a Class B drug (cannabis)
He is due to appear in custody at Highbury Magistrates’ Court later today.
Detective Sergeant Gareth Starr, of the North London robbery investigation team, commented:
“We know these reports have caused concern in the area. Today’s charge is a significant development and I hope it provides some reassurance to the community.”
