A heavy police presence, including a helicopter and multiple emergency vehicles, descended on the NW4 area this afternoon following a serious incident believed to involve a fatal hit-and-run.
Residents reported sirens and the sound of a police helicopter overhead, with large sections of Graham Park Way cordoned off near Beaufort Park and the local police station.
Unconfirmed reports from multiple local witnesses suggest a young child, believed to be a Year 5 pupil, was struck by a vehicle that may have been involved in a police pursuit. A blue tent was later erected at the scene, and a child’s scooter was reportedly visible nearby.
One local resident, Adnana Chirila, said:
“I heard a small hit… and then a woman screamed. I can see some people crying. I just can’t believe it. Everything happened so fast.”
Another witness shared that a young girl had tragically died, though police have not yet confirmed any details.
Sahar Bz, posting in a community forum, noted:
“It looks like someone has passed away opposite the police station. Might be a hit and run… they’ve cordoned off Graham Park Way from the Beaufort Park nursery onwards. That might explain the helicopter.”
As of now, the Metropolitan Police have not released an official statement regarding the incident.
Residents are being advised to avoid the area while investigations are ongoing.
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:
“We were called at 3.08pm today (25 March) to reports of a road traffic collision on Grahame Park Way, NW9.
“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including ambulance crews, an advanced paramedic, a clinical team manager and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance.
“Very sadly, despite the best efforts of our crews, a woman was pronounced dead at the scene.”
