Three firefighters from Dronfield are set to push themselves to the limit this summer as they take on a gruelling endurance challenge in support of a vital cause.
Luke, Phil, and Josh — all serving firefighters — will be tackling The Peak District Ultra on Saturday, 28 June 2025, covering an epic 100km route with over 2,000 metres of ascent, all with the goal of completing it in under 24 hours.
The trio are taking on the challenge to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity, which provides crucial health and wellbeing support to the UK’s fire service community, including serving and retired firefighters, control staff, support staff, and their families.
The charity offers a wide range of physical, mental and social wellbeing services, both online and in person, ensuring those who dedicate their lives to protecting others can access the support they need when they need it most.
Speaking ahead of the challenge, the team said they were motivated by the charity’s invaluable work:
“We see first-hand the toll this job can take on both body and mind. The Fire Fighters Charity is a lifeline for so many people in our fire family, and we’re proud to be doing our bit to give something back.”
The team has set up a fundraising page, and donations are warmly welcomed to support their efforts and the cause.

Supporters can also follow their training and progress in the run-up to the event through updates shared on social media.
The firefighters are now deep into preparations, clocking up miles and building endurance in anticipation of one of the toughest physical challenges they’ve ever faced.
As the date draws nearer, the Dronfield community — and fire service colleagues across the country — are rallying behind them.
