London Fire Brigade has been called to a major blaze in Dagenham this afternoon, with multiple fire crews responding to the incident on Gosbrook Road.
Firefighters were mobilised to Balti Cottage shortly after 1:30pm following reports of a well-developed fire spreading rapidly through building.
It is understood that the flames have engulfed several parts of the building and are now threatening to breach the roof.
A specialist 32-metre turntable ladder has been deployed to assist crews in tackling the fire from above. Roads in the area remain cordoned off as emergency services continue their efforts to bring the situation under control.
Witnesses reported seeing thick smoke billowing from the property as crews arrived on the scene. Firefighters are using hose reels and aerial equipment in an attempt to stop the fire from spreading further.
London Fire Brigade has yet to confirm if there have been any injuries. The cause of the blaze is not yet known.
More updates will follow as the situation develops.
