The first picture has been released of Simon Evans, the 18-year-old who tragically died in a fatal car crash alongside two of his friends in Shropshire last Friday night.

Simon, from Perton, Wolverhampton, was pronounced dead at the scene after the silver Audi A1 he was travelling in crashed on Offoxey Road in Tong, near Shifnal, at around 11:15pm on March 14.

Two other teenagers – Jacob Holeman, 17, from Codsall, Staffordshire, and Jenson Bridges, also 17 – were also killed in the devastating collision. Jacob died later in hospital from his injuries on Saturday, March 15. A fourth teenager was seriously injured and is being treated for life-changing injuries.

“A Gentleman Older Than His Years”

In a heartfelt tribute released today, Simon’s family described him as a “much-loved son, brother, grandson and friend who will be sorely missed by anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.”

“He was just a lovely, friendly person always with a smile on his face,” the statement read. “He was so family orientated and would do absolutely anything for his friends, who he was very loyal to.”

The family spoke of Simon’s adventurous spirit, his love of the outdoors, and his many hobbies—from fishing and darts to mountain biking, pool and golf. He had also achieved a blue belt in Taekwondo and even became world champion before moving on to new pursuits.

Recently, Simon had been promoted to sous chef at the restaurant where he worked part-time—an achievement he was immensely proud of. He was also enrolled on a college course studying light vehicle mechanics, excelling in his studies.

“Nothing was too much for Simon,” the family said. “He really was a gentleman older than his years.”

Scene of Devastation

Floral tributes now mark the site of the crash along the rural road, where emergency services fought to save lives late into the night. The silver Audi was the only vehicle involved in the collision, but police believe it had been travelling alongside a red Vauxhall Corsa and a black VW Golf, which were not involved in the crash.

Police Investigation Ongoing

West Mercia Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Officers are appealing for any witnesses or dashcam footage, particularly from motorists travelling through the Bishops Wood and Brewood areas around 11pm on the night of the crash.

Inspector Steph Arrowsmith, from the Serious Collision Investigation Team, said:

“We believe the Audi was travelling in convoy with two other vehicles. While they were not involved in the crash, we’re hoping that other motorists may remember seeing the three cars and can provide useful information.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact West Mercia Police, quoting incident reference details from March 14.

The families of all those involved have asked for privacy during this incredibly difficult time.
