Police Appeal for Witnesses After Attempted Robbery at Betfred in St Leonards

 

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery at a Betfred betting shop in St Leonards, Sussex.

The incident occurred on Sunday, March 9, at approximately 7:24pm, when a man entered the Betfred store on Sedlescombe Road North, demanded money, and tried to force entry behind the counter, before ultimately fleeing the scene.

The suspect ran off in a northerly direction, and police are now working to identify him.

Suspect Description:

  • Wearing a black beanie
  • Scarf covering his face
  • Grey hoodie with epaulettes and a chest pocket
  • Brown chinos
  • Shoes with thick white soles

Officers are urging anyone who saw the incident or may have CCTV, dashcam, or doorbell footage from the area at the time to come forward.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said:

“We’re appealing for witnesses and anyone with relevant footage to assist with our investigation. Even small details can help us piece together what happened and track down the suspect.”
