A serving Metropolitan Police officer is due to appear in court this week after being charged with three sex offences, including one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault.
PC Nick Whitcombe, who is attached to the South West Command Unit, was formally charged on Thursday, 13 February, and is set to appear before Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 18 March.
The alleged offences are reported to have taken place while PC Whitcombe was off-duty, on Tuesday, 9 April 2024. According to police, two women are involved in the case, and both have been receiving ongoing support from specialist officers.
Following his arrest on the same day as the alleged incident, PC Whitcombe was immediately suspended from duty, pending the outcome of the criminal proceedings.
Internal Investigation Underway
The Metropolitan Police’s Directorate of Professional Standards has been notified and is actively monitoring the case alongside the criminal investigation.
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
“We are aware of the charges against PC Nick Whitcombe and can confirm that he remains suspended from duty. The matter is now subject to criminal proceedings and an internal review.”
The case is expected to raise fresh scrutiny over police conduct and accountability, particularly at a time when public trust in policing continues to face challenges.
Further updates will follow after PC Whitcombe’s court appearance.
