A tragic outcome has been confirmed in the search for missing 21-year-old Sebastian Sailes, who had been reported missing from Chippenham. Specialist divers located a body during a coordinated multi-agency search on Tuesday 11 March 2025.
The recovery was made during a joint operation involving divers working alongside Avon & Somerset Police and the Metropolitan Police, following a tasking by Wiltshire Police.
Sebastian’s disappearance had prompted an extensive search across the area, with multiple agencies working together in efforts to locate him. Sadly, the operation concluded with the discovery of a body. While formal identification is yet to be confirmed, authorities believe it to be that of the missing young man.
Police have confirmed that Sebastian’s family has been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers during this difficult time.
A spokesperson for the dive and recovery team said:
“Our divers, jointly with Avon & Somerset Police and the Metropolitan Police, located a 21-year-old missing person from Chippenham on Tuesday 11 March. Our sincere condolences are with the family at this incredibly difficult time.”
Wiltshire Police have expressed their gratitude to all those involved in the search operation and extended their heartfelt sympathies to Sebastian Sailes’ family and friends.
