Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a car crash on Commercial Road, London E1, after a vehicle collided with a lamppost this afternoon.
The incident occurred at approximately 4pm on Wednesday, 12 March, prompting a rapid response from Metropolitan Police, London Ambulance Service, and London Fire Brigade.
Initial reports indicate that two people may have been injured, including a child, although no one was trapped in the vehicle. The extent of the injuries remains unknown at this time.
The road remains blocked as emergency crews continue to work at the scene, causing delays and disruption to local traffic in the area.
A large cordon has been put in place, and officers are directing vehicles away from the area while paramedics treat those involved.
Witnesses described hearing a loud bang, followed by a heavy emergency service presence. One passerby said:
“There were sirens everywhere and a car completely smashed into a lamppost. Paramedics were treating someone inside the car, and it looked like a child was among those hurt.”
We have reached out to the Metropolitan Police for an official statement and further details on the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Motorists are advised to avoid Commercial Road until the area is cleared and traffic resumes as normal.
