A man has been arrested in Uckfield after police responded to reports of suspicious behaviour in the Regency Close area last week.
According to Sussex Police, officers were called following sightings of a male acting suspiciously and removing items from a skip. Officers quickly arrived at the scene, where they detained and searched the individual.
He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of theft and possession of an offensive weapon.
The stolen items were recovered at the scene, and police confirmed that the matter was resolved through a community resolution, a method often used for low-level offences where the offender accepts responsibility and agrees to make amends without formal prosecution.
A police spokesperson said: “We take all reports of suspicious activity seriously. We’re pleased this incident was resolved swiftly and appropriately. Officers recovered the stolen property, and no further action is required at this stage.”
Residents in the area have been encouraged to continue reporting any unusual activity to help ensure community safety.
Anyone with concerns or further information is advised to contact Sussex Police on 101 or online via their website.
