A man has been taken to hospital after being stabbed in a violent gang attack in Southeast London — but it’s the response of a police officer that’s sparking outrage tonight.
A large crime scene remains in place across Wallwood Street, Thomas Road, and Coal Makers Wharf, where the victim was reportedly set upon by a group of attackers. Emergency services responded quickly, and the injured man was rushed to hospital for treatment. His condition has not yet been confirmed.
However, members of the public were left stunned when a police officer allegedly told concerned onlookers to “mind your business” after they asked about the situation unfolding at the scene.
One witness said: “We just wanted to know if the man was going to be okay. The officer just turned and said ‘mind your business’ — it was cold and completely uncalled for.”
Police have yet to confirm whether any arrests have been made or if any suspects remain outstanding in connection with the stabbing.
Officers continue to guard the cordoned-off areas, while detectives carry out door-to-door inquiries and forensic teams examine the scene for evidence.
So far, no official statement has been issued by the Metropolitan Police regarding the incident or the officer’s conduct.
This is a developing story. More updates will be provided as further details emerge.
