A potentially dangerous dog that was reported loose in Adderbury earlier today has been safely located along with its owners, Thames Valley Police have confirmed.
The incident sparked concern in the community after the dog was seen attacking a deer near Oxford Road, prompting an urgent search by police officers and support from a national police helicopter.
In a statement released this afternoon, a Thames Valley Police spokesperson said:
“Following a loose dog incident in the Adderbury area earlier today, the dog and its owners have been located and an investigation is ongoing. There were no further injuries to the public or animals following this incident. We’d like to thank the public for their help.”
Earlier in the day, the force had issued an alert urging members of the public not to approach the dog, described as large, dark brown, and possibly dragging a broken chain around its neck.
Community Reassured
The incident caused a stir in the usually quiet village, with concerned residents sharing updates online and alerting neighbours. Police reassured the public that no further injuries were reported during the search and resolution.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the breed of the dog or whether any legal action will be taken, but they stated that an investigation is now underway.
