A 17-year-old boy was stabbed while waiting at a bus stop in Birmingham, prompting an urgent appeal from West Midlands Police for information to help identify those responsible.
The disturbing incident occurred at around 7:30pm on Saturday, 15 February, on Lodge Road opposite Norton Street, as the teenager waited for the number 101 bus.
According to police, a black VW Polo pulled up nearby, and several occupants got out and chased the boy, who fell into the entrance of the arriving bus. While on the ground, the attackers stabbed him in the arms before fleeing the scene.
The victim sustained serious injuries, requiring hospital treatment. Thankfully, his wounds are not believed to be life-threatening, and he is now recovering.
Police Issue Appeal and Release CCTV Images
Detective Constable Jo-Anne Hindmarsh, from Bournville CID, is leading the investigation. She described the attack as “concerning” and said officers are “working tirelessly to bring the offenders to justice.”
Police have released CCTV images of two individuals they wish to identify, believing they may hold vital information about the attack. Officers are urging anyone who recognises the people in the footage, or who may have seen anything suspicious around the time of the incident, to come forward.
“We know there are people out there who can help us,” DC Hindmarsh said. “Please don’t hesitate to get in touch – even small details can be crucial in an investigation like this.”

Knife Crime on the Rise in the Region
This incident adds to growing concerns about knife crime among young people in the West Midlands, with local residents expressing shock and frustration over the violence. Several community members have since called for enhanced safety measures at bus stops and public transport hubs to better protect teenagers and other vulnerable individuals.
Recent statistics indicate a rise in knife-related incidents across the region, prompting renewed calls for collaborative efforts between law enforcement, community leaders, and local councils to tackle youth violence and increase early intervention initiatives.
Police Investigating Further Leads
Detectives are now reviewing additional CCTV footage from nearby businesses and onboard the number 101 bus, hoping to identify further clues. Police are also appealing to anyone who was on the bus at the time of the attack to come forward, as even minor observations may assist the investigation.
DC Hindmarsh stressed that passengers might have noticed suspicious activity before the stabbing, even if they didn’t witness the attack itself.
