South Wales Police have confirmed they are dealing with a “serious incident” in the Green Park area of Talbot Green, prompting a major emergency response on Sunday evening.
Residents reported a large police presence in the area, with multiple emergency vehicles and uniformed officers seen throughout the neighbourhood. A police helicopter was also spotted circling overhead for several hours.
In a statement, South Wales Police said: “Emergency services are responding to a serious incident in the Green Park area of Talbot Green. Please avoid the area. More detail will follow as soon as available.”
The nature of the incident has not yet been confirmed. However, scene of crime officers clad in white personal protective equipment have been seen arriving at the scene, indicating the seriousness of the situation. Photographs from the scene show numerous police vehicles and cordons in place.
Local MP Alex Davies-Jones urged residents to follow police advice and avoid speculation. Please stay safe everyone and follow police advice to avoid the Green Park area. We must let law enforcement do their jobs and avoid spreading speculation,” she posted on social media.
Councillor Sarah Jane Davies, who represents the Llantrisant and Talbot Green ward, echoed the call for caution. “I have been in contact with the RCT leader to discuss concerns within the community. A meeting with South Wales Police and RCT will be arranged to address the recent increase in incidents. The police will issue further updates soon.”
Residents have expressed concern over the lack of detail, with many turning to social media for answers. In response, police have asked the public to be mindful when commenting and to avoid unhelpful speculation.
A police cordon remains in place, and the investigation is ongoing. Further updates are expected from South Wales Police in due course.
