Police Attend as Precautionary Measures Taken

Oakwood School was placed into lockdown earlier today following an incident involving a student, prompting a police response at the scene.

Police and School Reassure Parents

Concerns quickly spread among parents as students messaged from classrooms describing the lockdown, with some reportedly hiding under desks. However, police and school officials have assured the public that the situation is under control.

Kevin Smith, a parent who attended the school, stated:

“The school is in lockdown, and police are in attendance. This is an issue with a student, and because it was lunchtime, they felt it best to lockdown as the kids were all out. The student involved is with the police, and there is little risk.”

He further reassured parents that there were no ambulances present, indicating that no one was seriously injured.

Students Communicate with Parents

Many parents received messages from their children, with reports of some students being locked in classrooms.

Johanna de Vine, a parent, shared:

“My son had messages from his mates showing them under the desk. They haven’t had lunch; it happened at 13:23.”

Another parent, Shannen Lester, added:

“My son has said they are doing an intruder alarm – he said they haven’t been told anything. Can’t get through to school.”

“We have a situation involving a student which has escalated to it being necessary to contact the police. The school is in full lockdown as per procedure, and all students are safe in their classrooms. Please do not come to the school. We will update you as soon as possible.”
