A 16-year-old boy was shot dead, and a 12-year-old was stabbed in two separate violent incidents in London just hours apart.
Swiss Cottage Stabbing
The first incident took place at a school in Adelaide Road, Swiss Cottage, just before 12:55 PM on Tuesday, 4 March.
Police and London Ambulance Service crews attended the scene and found a 12-year-old boy with stab wounds. He was treated on-site before being taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as non-life-threatening.
Two 14-year-old boys were arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm (GBH) and possession of an offensive weapon. They remain in custody.
Clapham Shooting
Shortly after, at 2:30 PM, emergency services rushed to Paradise Road in Clapham following reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers found a 16-year-old boy injured. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police Investigation
Authorities are working to identify the teenager and contact his next of kin. Superintendent Gabriel Cameron, leading the local policing response, described the shooting as “an enormously shocking incident.”
He added:
“Our thoughts are with the young boy’s family at this devastating time.
“Local officers are on the scene gathering CCTV and speaking to witnesses to piece together what has happened. They will be supported by specialist homicide investigators shortly.
“Please rest assured we will work around the clock to identify and find those responsible.”
At this early stage, no arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
