Police have arrested two teenage boys, both aged 13, in connection with an appalling attack on a 13-year-old boy in Cock Hill Lane, Rubery.
The assault took place at around 4:00 PM on Monday, 3 March, when a group of youths targeted the victim. Police are examining social media footage of the incident and believe it may be linked to another assault at Hollywood Bowl in Rubery on Sunday at 4:30 PM, which remains under investigation.
Investigation and Police Response
The two arrested boys have been detained on suspicion of wounding with intent. Officers are actively searching for other youths involved and are working closely with local schools to gather more information.
Local officers have also been conducting high-visibility patrols in the area to provide community reassurance.
Police Statement
Detective Sergeant Shereen Ballintine, from Birmingham CID, said:
“This was an appalling attack on a young boy which has been recorded and shared on social media.
“We’d ask people to consider the impact that this has had on the family of the young boy and not to share the footage, as we work hard to identify and arrest all of those involved.
“We are also aware that some people have tried to find those involved themselves. This is not acceptable and anyone involved in threats or retaliation of any kind will also find themselves arrested.”
The victim was taken to hospital following the attack but has since been discharged.
