Fire crews have extinguished a garage fire in Maldon, believed to have been caused by a tumble dryer.
What Happened?
The homeowners had been out shopping, and upon returning, they saw smoke coming from their garage. After investigating, they discovered that their tumble dryer was on fire.
Firefighters acted swiftly to contain the fire, preventing it from spreading into the house.
Fire Service Statement
Watch Manager Nick Trice praised the homeowners for their quick thinking:
“Thankfully, the occupants had closed the internal door, which prevented most of the smoke from getting into the house and stopped the fire from spreading.
While the exact cause of the fire remains uncertain, it is suspected that heat buildup or a possible fault in the tumble dryer may have triggered the blaze.
