A second suspect has been charged in connection with a violent assault on the A2 near Canterbury, which left two men injured—one seriously.
Incident on London-Bound A2 Carriageway
Emergency services were called to the London-bound carriageway of the A2 near the A28 exit at Wincheap at approximately 5:40am on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
According to reports, the occupants of a car were attacked by at least one individual from another vehicle. Two men were taken to hospital, one of whom suffered serious injuries and continues to receive treatment.
Suspect Arrested and Charged
On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Esmatullah Paktuiwal, 35, of Britannia Place, Plymouth, was arrested and later charged with:
- Attempted murder
- Causing grievous bodily harm with intent
- Possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, specifically an axe and a bat
Paktuiwal has been remanded in custody and will appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, February 26.
Previous Arrests in the Investigation
This latest charge follows two earlier arrests on January 28:
- Dawood Khan, 28, of Burnt Oak, North London, was charged with:
- Attempted murder
- Causing grievous bodily harm with intent
- Two counts of possession of an offensive weapon (a wooden bat and an axe)
- He is set to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on March 3.
- A 27-year-old man was arrested and released on bail, pending further investigation.
Ongoing Investigation
Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the brutal attack, including whether additional suspects were involved.
Authorities are urging any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage from the A2 near Wincheap around the time of the incident to come forward.
