A 14-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon after a machete was found during a stop-and-search near London Bridge Station.
Police Patrol Leads to Arrest
Officers were patrolling the area around the busy station at 4:05 PM on February 4 when a group of teenagers reportedly ran off upon seeing them.
One of the boys was apprehended by police, who conducted a stop-and-search that resulted in the discovery of a large machete.
The suspect was arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and taken into custody. He has since been released on bail pending further investigation.
Police Statement
A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said:
“A 14-year-old boy was arrested by officers following a proactive stop-and-search that found he had a machete.
“Officers were patrolling the area around London Bridge Station at 16:06hrs on Tuesday, 4 February, when a group of teenage boys made off from police.
“Officers apprehended one teenager and carried out a search, resulting in the discovery of the weapon. He has been bailed pending further enquiries.”
