A headteacher has moved to reassure parents after a child brought a knife into Foxhill Junior School in the New Forest.
Parents were informed of the incident via email correspondence from Headteacher Lucy Howe, who confirmed that the situation was swiftly handled and that no children were harmed.
The incident occurred on Thursday, 7 February, prompting immediate action from staff upon discovery of the prohibited item.
School’s Response and Reassurance
In her message to parents, Mrs Howe acknowledged the concerns that the incident may raise but assured families that the schools safeguarding policies were followed appropriately.
I know you will understandably be concerned about this and I want to assure you that we have treated this extremely seriously, and that at no stage did any child come to any harm, she wrote.
She further emphasised that student safety remains the school’s absolute priority, adding that robust prohibited item policies are in place to prevent such incidents.
Safety Measures Moving Forward
The school has confirmed that additional steps will be taken to reinforce safety awareness among students.
“As the children return on Monday, we will remind them about safety in school and the important actions we must all take to keep ourselves and each other safe, the headteacher stated.
Parents who have concerns have been encouraged to contact the school directly to discuss the matter further.
Ongoing Focus on School Safety
While no further details about the child involved have been disclosed, the incident underscores the importance of continued vigilance regarding school safety policies.
Local authorities and school officials are expected to work closely to ensure that pupils, staff, and families feel safe and reassured moving forward.
