A self-proclaimed motor racing technician found himself on the receiving end of police action after being stopped by Wiltshire’s Roads Policing Unit (RPU) in Trowbridge.
Officers pulled over a BMW 118ES, only to discover that the driverâ:”who appeared confident in his automotive expertise:”had failed to notice an illegal tyre on the rear of the vehicle.
Despite the safety concern, the driver reportedly remained unfazed, suggesting to officers that he was doing better in life than we are. However, his confidence did little to sway police, who issued the necessary paperwork in response to the offence.
Adding a touch of irony to the stop, officers offered their apologies for the sound of their M340i, a clear nod to the performance of their own patrol vehicle.
Police Reminder on Vehicle Safety
The incident serves as a timely reminder of the importance of regular vehicle checks, especially for those who claim expertise in motoring. Illegal tyres can significantly impact vehicle handling, braking distances, and overall road safety.
Drivers are urged to conduct routine inspections and ensure their vehicles comply with legal road safety standards to avoid penalties and potential accidents.
Wiltshire Police confirmed that enforcement efforts against unroadworthy vehicles will continue across the county to keep roads safe for all users.
