An armed gang broke into a family home in Sutton Coldfield and stole a BMW in a terrifying gunpoint robbery.
The incident occurred at around 3:20 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, at a property on Bedford Drive, near Good Hope Hospital. Police report that at least three offenders, believed to have arrived on e-bikes, forced their way into the home.
Once inside, one of the robbers, reportedly armed with a weapon, made threats to a family member before stealing their vehicle. The suspects then fled the scene, with some leaving on motorcycles.
Police Response
West Midlands Police confirmed that officers arrived at the scene within minutes but found the suspects had already escaped.
A spokesperson said:
We were called to reports of an armed robbery at a property in Bedford Drive. No one was injured, but threats were made by one offender holding a weapon.”
Investigations are continuing with CCTV being retrieved and reviewed as we work to identify those responsible.

The incident has sparked concerns among local residents. Sutton Coldfield MP Andrew Mitchell expressed his dismay in a statement:
This shocking gun crime has understandably unnerved the local community. I have been in contact with the police to stress the deep concern being felt and demand updates on the investigation.
Mitchell also highlighted the potential impact of closing Sutton Police Station on crime rates and called for increased police presence in the area.
