A significant drugs haul, including nearly 220 grams of cocaine, was uncovered in woodland near Tunbridge Wells after being sniffed out by a police dog. The discovery has led to the jailing of 21-year-old Aden Maynard, who played a leading role in a drug supply network operating across west Kent.
Suspicious Activity Leads to Arrest
On July 13, 2024, police patrols responded to a disturbance in Hornbeam Avenue, Tunbridge Wells. Officers spotted Maynard acting suspiciously outside a property while carrying a shoulder bag. Upon seeing the officers, he fled into nearby woodland.

Although he was quickly located by a constable, Maynard no longer had the bag and claimed he was merely out for a walk. Officers brought in Police Dog Charlie, who soon led them to a concealed stash near an abandoned fridge. The bag, hidden in dense brambles, contained drugs valued at over £30,000, including cocaine, ketamine, and cannabis. More than £1,400 in cash, burner phones, and a lock knife were also seized.
Evidence Links Dealer to Supply Network
A review of the seized phones linked Maynard to a drug operation known as the “AD Line.” Investigators also retrieved CCTV footage from shops in Swanley and Westerham, showing him topping up the phone used in the operation. Additionally, a sales receipt in the shoulder bag for a TV and oven led police to a retailer in Orpington, where security footage confirmed Maynard’s purchase.
Court Proceedings and Sentencing
Maynard, who has no fixed address, pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including:
- Being concerned in the supply of cocaine, ketamine, and cannabis
- Possession of drugs with intent to supply
- Possessing a knife in public
- Possessing criminal property (the cash seized)
On December 2, 2024, he was sentenced at Maidstone Crown Court to three years and four months in prison.
Police Statement
PC James Heaver praised the role of Police Dog Charlie and the investigative team in securing the conviction:
“Maynard’s actions made it clear he was panicked about what we might find, and PD Charlie quickly led us to the hidden bag after almost 30 minutes of searching. This was a substantial drugs seizure, and Maynard’s phone provided irrefutable evidence of his involvement in a sophisticated supply chain.”
Impact on the Community
The operation represents a significant step in disrupting drug supply in west Kent. Authorities continue to encourage the public to report suspicious activity to help combat drug-related crime.
