Emergency services rushed to the scene of a serious road traffic collision (RTC) near the Wellesley Road Tram Stop in Croydon on the evening of Friday, 22 November 2024.
Details of the Incident
The collision reported around 9pm, involved two vehicles on the eastbound section of Wellesley Road in Croydon. Early reports from a passer by indicated that there were individuals trapped inside the vehicles, including a child. Smoke was seen emanating from one of the cars, prompting urgent action from responders.
Emergency Response
Crews from the fire service, paramedics, and police officers were deployed to the scene. Firefighters worked swiftly to safely extricate those trapped in the vehicles, while paramedics assessed and treated the injured.
A section of Wellesley Road was cordoned off to allow emergency services to operate safely, causing significant disruption to traffic in the area, including trams.
