are appealing for witnesses following the death of a 78-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle in Maidstone. The collision occurred on August 15, 2024, on King Street at around 10:40 a.m. The man, who was hospitalized following the incident, sadly passed away on October 26, 2024.
The collision involved a black Ford Focus, and the elderly victim was crossing the road with a woman near Boots, heading towards the King Street carpark, when he was struck. The woman also sustained injuries but was later discharged from the hospital. The driver of the Ford Focus remained at the scene and has been cooperating with police.
Detective Constable Jim Galbraith of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit is leading the appeal. “The victim had been walking from outside Boots and in the direction of the King Street carpark when the collision happened. He sadly died in hospital on October 26, and we are now appealing to anyone who may have seen this incident to contact us,” Galbraith said. “We are also asking drivers who were in this area to check any dashcams which may retain important footage.”
