Two people have been taken to hospital following a fire that broke out in a flat above a pizza shop on City Road in Sheffield earlier this morning. Emergency services were alerted to the incident at 9:09 am today (October 25), and firefighters remain at the scene.
The fire, which erupted above Toppolis pizza grill, saw flames shooting from the windows of the building. Social media videos captured the emergency response, showing an ambulance, multiple fire engines, and police vehicles gathered outside the shop.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service deployed four fire engines and an aerial appliance to tackle the blaze. They confirmed that two individuals were hospitalized after suffering from smoke inhalation.
The fire has since been extinguished, and crews are now using ventilation fans to clear smoke from the building. Authorities have not yet commented on the cause of the fire as investigations continue.
Residents and passersby are urged to avoid the area to allow emergency services to manage the situation safely.
