A person has been taken to the William Harvey Hospital in Ashford after a vehicle overturned on the A260 Canterbury Road near Folkestone. The incident occurred early this morning (October 18), prompting emergency services, including police and paramedics, to respond at around 6:40 am.
The road was initially blocked in both directions between Crete Road East and the A259, leading to significant traffic congestion and delays throughout the morning as authorities worked to clear the scene.
Kent Police confirmed that they were called to the scene following reports of a one-vehicle collision. Officers remained on-site for several hours to manage traffic and investigate the cause of the accident. A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called to a one-vehicle collision on the A260 Canterbury Road, Folkestone, at 6:40 am on Friday, October 18. Officers are currently at the scene working to clear the road.”
South East Coast Ambulance Service (SECAmb) attended the scene and provided immediate medical care to one person. An ambulance service spokesperson stated: “SECAmb were called shortly before 6:45 am this morning to reports of an RTC on the A260, Canterbury Road. Crews assessed and treated one person at the scene before taking them to William Harvey Hospital for further medical treatment.”
The road has since been partially reopened, though traffic remains slow as authorities continue their investigation and clear any remaining debris. Drivers are advised to check for updates and consider alternative routes to avoid delays.
