A dramatic 10-mile police chase ended in the arrest of two men after their vehicle crashed into bollards in East Malling. The incident, which took place in the early hours of October 15, saw officers pursue a motorist from Rochester to Maidstone after he was spotted swerving dangerously in and out of traffic on the A299.
The pursuit began when officers discovered that the vehicle was uninsured. Attempts to pull the driver over failed, leading to a high-speed chase along the A229 towards Maidstone, passing through Snodland, Leybourne, and Larkfield. The chase took a dangerous turn as the car swerved onto narrow country lanes and even drove on the wrong side of the road. At one point, the fleeing suspects used a fire extinguisher to spray officers from the vehicle.
The chase finally came to an end when the vehicle crashed into bollards on East Malling High Street. Officers promptly arrested two individuals inside the car.
A 21-year-old man from Chatham was arrested on multiple charges, including dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving without insurance, driving without a licence, and possession of a class A drug. A 20-year-old man from the Isle of Sheppey was also arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop.
Both suspects remain in police custody as enquiries continue.
The police have urged witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
