Suspect charged in connection with Ashford burglaries

A man has been charged following a reported break-in at the Co-Op store in Sellindge near Ashford.

Kent Police was called to the village at 12.52am on Monday 23 September 2024 after a suspected burglary was reported. After carrying out initial enquiries, a man was arrested in the area shortly afterwards.

Officers attending the scene seized a holdall and multiple packets of cigarettes, along with alcohol and other items.

Later that day, Danny Sharland, of Beckets Close, Ashford, was charged with burglary and possession of an offensive weapon in connection with the incident.

He was also charged in relation to a reported burglary at the Co-Op store on Faversham Road in Kennington on Thursday 29 August 2024.

Mr Sharland, 35, appeared before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 24 September and was remanded in custody to appear before Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 28 October.
