The victim, identified as 40-year-old Jonathan Dittia, was found with severe injuries when emergency services arrived at the scene. Despite the efforts of paramedics and police officers, Mr Dittia was pronounced dead shortly after their arrival.
Caine Lonsdale, a 34-year-old resident of Lerwick Close, Nottingham, has since been charged with murder in connection with the incident. Lonsdale was arrested at the scene and is scheduled to appear in court at Nottingham Magistrates’ on Saturday.
Detective Chief Inspector Ruby Burrow of Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that Mr Dittia’s family has been informed of this significant development in the investigation. “Specially trained officers will continue to support the family, and our thoughts remain with them,” DCI Burrow said. She also expressed hope that the swift action taken by the police, with the suspect being arrested and charged, would bring some measure of comfort to the community.
The investigation remains ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Mr Dittia’s family described him as a “gentle giant” and have asked for privacy as they mourn their loss.
