Emergency services responded to a significant fire at a property on East Dulwich Grove, London, on Tuesday evening, 17th September 2024. Multiple calls were received around 6 pm reporting smoke issuing from the roof and scaffolding on the top floor of the building.
The London Fire Brigade (LFB) has dispatched four fire engines and an aerial ladder platform with a total of 30 firefighters and officers currently at the scene, working to control the blaze. The fire has prompted road closures, and buses in the area have been diverted to avoid the affected routes.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined, but firefighters are focusing their efforts on the roof and top floor, where the smoke was initially observed. Authorities have set up a safety perimeter, and residents are being advised to avoid the area.
A spokesperson for the London Fire Brigade at the scene said, “Our crews are working tirelessly to bring the fire under control. We ask the public to avoid the area and follow transport updates for any changes to bus routes or road closures.”
As of now, there have been no reports of injuries. Emergency services are expected to remain on-site overnight to fully extinguish the fire and assess any further risks.
More updates will follow as the situation develops.
