Donald Trump is reported to be safe following gunshots near his location, according to a statement from his campaign team on Sunday evening. The incident occurred at Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, where two individuals reportedly exchanged fire outside the property.
A senior law enforcement official revealed that Mr Trump was swiftly “moved to safety” by the Secret Service. The gunfire was not believed to be directed at the former president, and the Trump campaign has yet to release further details on the situation.
“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time” read the official campaign statement.
The Secret Service confirmed Mr Trump’s safety and is currently investigating the incident. The event comes just months after a previous assassination attempt on Mr. Trump in July.
