Lexus Partners with Tracker to Enhance Vehicle Security

Lexus has announced a new partnership with Tracker Network (UK) to significantly enhance the security of its vehicles. As part of this initiative, Lexus will offer compatible models the installation of Tracker S7 devices, free of charge, to provide additional protection against theft.

The Tracker S7, which is accredited by Thatcham Research and approved by insurers, works by activating in the event of a vehicle theft, increasing the likelihood of recovering the vehicle and returning it to its owner. This device will also be available for Lexus-approved used vehicles, further extending security measures across the brand’s range.

In addition to the Tracker hardware, Lexus customers can download a smartphone app that offers extra features like geofencing alerts. This functionality allows users to receive notifications if their vehicle moves outside pre-set boundaries, providing an additional layer of security.

To find out if their vehicle qualifies for the Tracker installation, customers are encouraged to contact their local Lexus centre. Alternatively, they will be notified about the option during routine service, maintenance, or repairs. The Tracker device, along with a three-year subscription, will be provided and fitted at no cost.

Lexus’ latest models already come equipped with advanced built-in security systems, so these vehicles will not require the Tracker upgrade. However, any customer seeking confirmation of their vehicle’s eligibility is advised to reach out to their local Lexus centre.

Chris Hayes, Director of Lexus UK, stated:
“With increasingly sophisticated methods being used by criminals, it is essential we give our customers peace of mind that their vehicle is well-protected. Through our partnership with Tracker, we are providing excellent additional security using the latest technology from a company that has a fantastic record in combating car crime.”

Mark Rose, Managing Director at Tracker, added:
“Organised criminal gangs are commonly stealing cars to order, often shipping them abroad or dismantling them for their valuable parts. They are highly sophisticated in their technical capabilities, operating a complex network and overcoming many security systems in seconds. Indeed, more than 94 per cent of vehicles we recover are stolen without the keys being present, confirming just how skilful they are. We hold a 95 per cent success rate in recovering stolen vehicles fitted with one of our devices. Crucially, 50 per cent of these are recovered within four hours and 80 per cent are returned to their owners within 24 hours, undamaged.”

How the Tracker Device Works

Tracker’s system operates like an electronic homing device, with a covert transmitter concealed in various locations within the vehicle, making it difficult for thieves to detect. Tracker is the only stolen vehicle recovery provider in the UK that works in partnership with police forces nationwide. More than 2,000 police vehicles and all police helicopters are equipped with Tracker detection units, enabling them to locate stolen vehicles even if they are hidden underground or inside shipping containers, thanks to a unique combination of VHF, GPS, and GSM technology that is immune to GPS signal jamming.

With this collaboration, Lexus is taking a proactive step to ensure its customers are protected against the ever-evolving threat of car theft.
