Two suspected shop thieves were arrested in Maidstone after allegedly selling stolen food items in the town centre. The arrests followed a report from CCTV operators who noticed suspicious activity near Bank Street during the evening of Thursday, 12 September 2024.
Patrol officers responded to the alert and seized quantities of meat, cheese, and chocolate from the scene. The items are believed to have been stolen from one or more Co-op stores.
A 43-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of theft at around 5:30pm and are currently in police custody.
The investigation is ongoing, and Kent Police are appealing to anyone with information or who may have been offered these items for sale to come forward.
