A teenager was injured following a stabbing outside a North London college, prompting the institution to go into lockdown as a precaution. The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 11, near City and Islington College on Camden Road.
Metropolitan Police were called to the scene at approximately 1:25 pm after reports of a stabbing. Officers, along with London Ambulance Service, found a teenage male with a hand injury. The injury was treated at the scene, and it was later confirmed that his condition was not serious.
As a precautionary measure, the college briefly locked down its Holloway Road centre to ensure the safety of students and staff. The facility reopened the following morning, with no further concerns for student safety.
In a statement, the college said: “We can confirm that on September 11, police were called to an incident outside the premises of our Holloway Road centre. The site was briefly locked down as a precaution to ensure the safety of students and staff. It reopened this morning as usual, and there are no further concerns regarding student safety. We would like to thank our students and staff who acted calmly throughout.”
A London Ambulance Service spokesperson added: “We were called at 1:39 pm to reports of a person injured in Camden Road, N7. We sent an ambulance crew and a paramedic in a fast-response car. Our crews treated a teenager at the scene, who was released when it was determined he needed no further treatment.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that no arrests have been made, but enquiries into the circumstances of the incident are ongoing. They are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Despite the incident, the college resumed normal operations the next day, and police investigations continues.
