Shakiel Thibou, 20, has appeared at the Old Bailey charged with the murder of Cher Maximen, who was fatally stabbed during Notting Hill Carnival. Thibou had initially faced charges of attempted murder, but these were upgraded after Ms Maximen succumbed to her injuries on August 31, which were described as “unsurvivable.
The court heard that Thibou appeared via video link from HMP Belmarsh on Monday, September 9. His brothers, Sheldon Thibou, 24, and Shaeim Thibou, 21, also appeared via video link from HMP Wandsworth, facing lesser charges related to the incident.
Cher Maximen, a mother of two, was attacked during the celebrations at Notting Hill Carnival and was rushed to hospital, where she later died as a result of her injuries. The tragic incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and prompted further discussions on safety at large public events.
Shakiel Thibou was remanded in custody as the case continues, while his brothers await further legal proceedings.
The trial is expected to continue as more details emerge about the events leading up to Ms. Maximen’s death.
