Two individuals have been arrested in Maidstone, and approximately £80,000 in cash has been seized, as part of an ongoing money laundering investigation.
Kent Police carried out warrants at two car washes and a residential property in the area on the evening of Thursday, September 5, 2024. In addition to the property searches, two vehicles were stopped, and their drivers and cars were searched in connection with the investigation.
Two men, both aged 40, were arrested on suspicion of money laundering. They have since been released on bail pending further inquiries.
Detective Inspector Stacey Chapman of Kent Police stated: “Kent Police will disrupt suspected criminal activity and arrest those we believe to be involved at every opportunity. Money used by criminal groups is often laundered through other enterprises, and we will intercept and seize this cash whenever we can to keep the county safe.”
She further urged the local community to remain vigilant: “I would like to thank the local community for their support as we carry out our inquiries and urge anyone who sees anything they think is suspicious in their area to report it so we can take action.”
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities continue to gather information as they work to combat money laundering activities in the area.
