The M20 Eastbound was closed last night (Saturday) between Junctions 10A and 11 as firefighters battled a fierce blaze in a lorry trailer. The fire broke out around 9 PM, with the driver managing to detach the cab from the trailer before the flames took hold.
Kent Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the fire on the coastbound section of the motorway and dispatched two fire engines and a bulk water carrier to the scene. Crews, equipped with breathing apparatus, worked to extinguish the flames using hose reels and main jets. The fire was contained to the trailer, and there were no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental, and authorities have confirmed that no further investigation is required. The road was reopened after the fire was safely extinguished and the scene made secure.
The incident caused significant disruption to traffic, with motorists advised to seek alternative routes during the closure. The swift response by the fire crews helped prevent further damage and ensured the safety of those involved.
