Northumbria Police have confirmed the identity of a woman whose body was discovered in a Gateshead residence earlier this week. Eve McIntyre, 57, was found deceased at an address on Sunderland Road
A man has been charged with murder following the discovery of Eve McIntyre’s body in Gateshead. John Baldwin, 42, of Sunderland Road, Gateshead, was arrested after a police investigation and has been formally charged with McIntyre’s murder. Baldwin is scheduled to appear before magistrates in Newcastle on Saturday.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Thompson expressed her condolences to McIntyre’s family, stating, “This is an incredibly sad time for Eve’s family, and our thoughts remain with them. They’ve been left understandably devastated, and we’d continue to ask that everyone respects their privacy.
Thompson added, “Since the outset, our priority has been to get Eve’s family the answers they deserve — and ensure the person responsible for her death is rightly brought to justice.
Authorities believe the suspect was known to the victim. As legal proceedings are now underway, the public is urged to avoid speculation or commentary that could potentially compromise the case.
Northumbria Police extended their gratitude to the local community for their patience and cooperation throughout the investigation as it unfolded.
