Nottingham, 16 August 2024— Keah Gibbs, 25, formerly of Pelham Road, Sherwood, has been sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty of creating and distributing thousands of indecent images of children. The sentencing took place at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, 16 August.
Gibbs was arrested after police discovered over 9,000 indecent images on his computer. Among these, 1,733 were classified as category A, depicting the most severe forms of abuse. Additionally, 2,474 Category B and 5,085 Category C images were also found. Gibbs claimed he used these images on social media to identify individuals with a sexual interest in children.
Gibbs pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of children, covering the period from 27 December 2019 to 14 October 2020. He also admitted to possessing 427 prohibited images of children and seven extreme pornographic images during the same period. Furthermore, Gibbs confessed to distributing 25 indecent photographs of children, including seven category A images, between 17 July 2023 and 16 January 2024.
In addition to his prison sentence, Gibbs was made subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order and must sign the Sex Offenders’ Register indefinitely.
Detective Sergeant Adam Taylor of Nottinghamshire Police emphasized the seriousness of these crimes: “We take these types of crimes very seriously and we will always do everything we can to protect vulnerable young people and ensure that individuals involved in this sort of criminality are brought to justice. It serves as a warning to others who may be thinking of engaging in this type of activity that they will be caught and will face the full consequences of their actions.”
Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious online behaviour to the police to protect children from such exploitation.
