Sussex Police have deployed significant additional and specialist resources in anticipation of proposed events in various locations across the county.
According to information circulating online, planned gatherings are expected in Queens Road, Brighton, and Cambridge Gardens, Hastings, this evening (7 August). Another event is anticipated in Crawley on Friday (9 August). Robust plans are in place to protect the communities in these areas.
Assistant Chief Constable Paul Court emphasized the commitment of Sussex Police to ensure public safety: “Our message to the residents of Sussex is clear – we stand ready and prepared to keep you safe and will tackle any criminal disorder that threatens the unity of our communities.”
The public can expect to see an increased police presence in these areas over the coming days. Officers will be actively engaging with communities to provide reassurance and serve as a clear point of contact. Sussex Police are closely monitoring all available information, working alongside local and national partners to identify and address any emerging concerns and take necessary actions.
“We are fully prepared to use all of our powers against anyone who threatens the safety of our communities,” said ACC Court. “Anyone planning to take part in criminal disorder in Sussex will regret their actions. Do not do it. Our officers are mobilised and fully prepared, and the ramifications for those involved will stretch far beyond the conclusion of any incidents.”
Sussex Police encourage residents to follow trusted news sources, such as local media or the official social media channels of Sussex Police and their partners, for the latest updates and to verify any information seen online.
ACC Court concluded: “Please speak to local officers for reassurance and report any concerns to the police via the usual channels – online, through 101, or by dialling 999 in an emergency.”
By proactively mobilising resources and engaging with the community, Sussex Police aim to maintain order and ensure the safety of all residents amid the anticipated events.
