In a disturbing incident on January 7, two men and a 15-year-old were convicted of a violent burglary at a residence in Coxwell Close, Seaford. The convicted individuals are Remy Cadoret, 20, from Mayola Road, Hackney; Romeo Dankwa, 20, from Walford Road, Hackney; and a minor from Bromley, whose identity is withheld due to legal reasons.
The trio forced entry into the home, where it is reported one of the perpetrators brandished a knife and assaulted an occupant. The burglars made off with bank cards, cash, and various electronic items. Their escape was short-lived as police engaged in a pursuit that ended with the burglars crashing their vehicle and subsequently being arrested.
All three were charged with aggravated burglary. While the two adults were found guilty after a three-week trial at Lewes Crown Court in Brighton, the juvenile pleaded guilty earlier and was referred to a youth offender panel.
Detective Constable Steven Pittman, who spearheaded the investigation, commented on the case, highlighting the severity of the crime and the distress caused to the victims. “This was a shocking incident involving dangerous individuals,” Pittman stated. “We hope the forthcoming sentencing will reflect the gravity of their actions and serve as a strong deterrent to others.”
Cadoret and Dankwa are set to receive their sentences on September 20 at the same court.
