The tragic incident that claimed the lives of two eight-year-old girls at The Study Preparatory School in Wimbledon last year will not result in criminal charges for the driver responsible. Nuria Sajjad and Selena Lau lost their lives when a Land Rover collided with an end-of-term tea party on July 6, 2023. The Metropolitan Police confirmed that the woman behind the wheel will not face prosecution due to her epileptic seizure.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) made the decision after a thorough examination of the case. Jaswant Narwal, representing the CPS, stated, “We have carefully considered this complex and sensitive situation, taking into account all the evidence gathered during the extensive police investigation. The driver’s epileptic seizure led to the loss of control over the vehicle, resulting in the tragic collision with the school.”
In addition to the fatalities, sixteen others were injured during the incident.
