Authorities have initiated a murder investigation following a fatal shooting in Aintree on Sunday night, June 23. The incident occurred near the Liver Industrial Estate, close to Taskers, at approximately 10.10pm
The Incident
Police responded to a report from North West Ambulance Service paramedics who were treating a 19-year-old man. Upon arrival, officers discovered that the man had been shot. He was rushed to the hospital but was tragically pronounced dead shortly afterwards. His next of kin have been notified and are receiving support from specialist family liaison officers.
A police cordon is in place at the scene while crime scene investigators conduct forensic examinations. Extensive CCTV inquiries are underway, and house-to-house interviews are being conducted. High-visibility patrols have been increased in the area to provide reassurance to residents and address any concerns.
Appeal for Information
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Baker urged anyone with information to come forward. He emphasized that even seemingly insignificant details could be vital to the investigation. Motorists who may have captured relevant footage on their dashcams are also encouraged to share it with authorities.
Baker stated, “Gun violence has taken too many young lives in Merseyside. Our efforts to remove weapons from the streets and hold those responsible accountable will continue.”
