All flights departing from Manchester Airport are facing cancellations and severe delays today due to a power cut in the area. The incident has impacted not only the airport but also several other buildings in the vicinity.
A spokesperson for Manchester Airport issued a statement, urging passengers to check with their airlines before heading to the airport. “A significant number of flights today are likely to be cancelled,” the spokesperson said. “Passengers expecting to travel should not come to the airport without verifying their flight status first.”
While power has been restored, the effects will continue to disrupt services throughout the day as the airport gradually resumes operations. As of now, Terminals 1 and 2 are severely affected, while Terminal 3 remains operational.
Inside the airport, passengers already present are experiencing significant delays and potential cancellations. For those with later flights who have not yet arrived at the airport, it is advisable to refrain from travelling until they have checked their flight status.
Airlines are working to arrange alternative travel options for passengers whose flights have been cancelled.
However, the airport management has not provided a specific timeline for full-service restoration.
Inbound flights are less impacted, although there are some delays at Border Control.
