Following an extensive investigation by Thames Valley Police, Shane Medhurst, a 57-year-old resident of Windsor, has been sentenced to a total of 25 years in prison for multiple child sex offences. The sentencing took place at Reading Crown Court on Monday, June 10.
Medhurst faced a two-week trial that concluded on May 10, during which he was found guilty of the following charges:
- Five counts of sexual activity with a child
- Three counts of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity
- Two counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in penetrative sexual activity
- Two counts of sexual assault of a child under 13
- One count of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity
- One count of assault of a child under 13 by penetration
Detective Constable Sharon Lenihan, from the Child Abuse Investigation Unit, emphasised the courage of the young victims who came forward to report the abuse. She stated, “Medhurst will now serve a substantial prison sentence for the sexual offences he committed against children. Thames Valley Police remains committed to prosecuting perpetrators of child sexual offences and protecting the wider public. This case underscores that survivors of sexual abuse should feel empowered to come forward, regardless of the passage of time.”
