A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of a woman in Newham. Kieran Rifat, 21, of Grange Road, Plaistow, was charged on Friday, 3 April, with the murder of 41-year-old Kelly Stewart. Police were called at 15.09hrs on Thursday, 26 March, to the grounds of Memorial Community Church in Barking Road, E13. A woman, later identified as Kelly Stewart, was declared dead at the scene. Rifat was charged with murder and appeared in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Friday, 3 April. He was remanded to appear at the Central Criminal Court on Tuesday, 7 April.
