In a distressing incident on Saturday morning, an elderly woman was struck by an SUV in Bolton, with the driver failing to stop. The police have issued an appeal for information as they continue their search for the individual responsible.
At around 10:10am on 15 June 2024, emergency services were called to Moss Bank Way in Bolton following reports of an 89-year-old woman found injured on the road. The woman, who was crossing at the junction with Hill View Road when she was hit, sustained serious injuries including wrist and knee fractures. She was promptly attended to by officers and taken to hospital, where she is currently in stable condition.
Chief Inspector Michael Parker from the Roads Policing Unit stated, “This is a serious incident involving a vulnerable member of our community. We are conducting a thorough investigation and reviewing CCTV footage to locate the driver of the silver or grey SUV that failed to stop after the collision.”
